A camouflaged example of the Proton S70 has been sighted on public roads, as shown by this image courtesy of paultan.org reader Michael Chin. Closer inspection finds that the disguised sedan seen here is set to be the S70 facelift.
This is likely to be a Proton-led design update as the Geely Emgrand that the current S70 MC1 is based on, does not have an update beyond that of the 2025 facelift, and the Chinese manufacturer’s sedan bearing the nameplate has moved on to a full model change, now in its fifth generation.
From the little that is visible among the camouflage, the tail light graphics on its outer section is slimmer, and has segmented LEDs similar to those on the latest Saga, albeit shown here to slant in a direction opposite to those on the Saga.
In these images showing the front and sides of the updated S70 by zichiazizi on Threads, the upcoming sedan is shown to also wear a restyled front bumper, a new wheel design, and a keyless entry button on the front passenger door.
Last month, examples of the Tanjong Malim-built sedan were sighted aboard a transporter truck and were found wearing Geely badges, suggesting those units were for export markets.
Proton has already been said to be working on a local facelift for the S70, which is what this latest sighting appears to be, and a naturally aspirated version of the model is expected to serve as a replacement for the B-segment Persona.

why proton keep on facelift and update its models. if i was a S70 owner i would be very sad because my car became obsolete after 1-2 years and resale value dropped. better i spend my hard earned money to buy suzuki jimny which launch new model every 20 years so that my resale value can be maitnained.
Every year also got new
No need to bother RV
Just buy and cry LOL
This is one reason why parts are so scarce. When you have so many different parts to keep, the company resource just stretched thin.
phones also update every few months. cars are just another product in our lives. cars dont become “obsolete”. they still drives you around. the problem here seems to be you have the fantasy that cars are some kind of investment? sorry but no, cars are liabilities. Sure, you can buy a Jimny and use it for 20 years, but at what costs? It is such an uncomfortable car. slow in expressways. Driving a Jimny on tarmac is like using a chainsaw to cut bonsai trees. It works, but its not the best tool.
yeah not everybody appreciates turbo power. it’s more marketing gimmick than real life practical function that people use.
Is it that geely’s own emgrand is going into full c class, leaving proton’s s70 remain in B+ segment.. perhaps for geeky export market like Philippines and perhaps even Australia hmm.. geely may let proton do the manufacturing if proton supply chain still hv the tooling. In that way geely china can proceed to change up to new larger emgrand…
Or, proton hv not sold enough units of s70 and it’s supply chain stock still high and need to clear out B4 migrate to new emgrand… Hmm
People don’t want to associate the taillight with Teksi Madani
my civic also now a polis car. just accept it
but the civic is much cooler than taxi despite being a cheap car for poor people in rest of the world
It is a classic industry tactic that leaves a sour taste for buyers. Car manufacturers frequently offer steep discounts or bulk fleet deals to clear out old stock right before dropping a major update.
BTS (behind the scenes):
Fleet Dumping: Brands look for bulk buyers like taxi companies, rental agencies, or corporate fleets to absorb the last batches of pre-facelift models.
The Price Trap: These vehicles are sold with heavy rebates, making them look like a great deal on paper, though buyers are rarely told that a superior version is just days away.
Instant Depreciation: The moment the updated model hits the showroom, the older fleet models suffer an immediate drop in resale value and relevance.
A 1.5NA b segment to replace persona lah, 2027 who still want to buy a timing belt car with lousy punch cvt.
Saga got a capable engine should be for fit for vios, city, persona b segment chassis.
S70 unnecessary too much torque incur high fuel and expensive maintenance, that’s why even ‘berbaloi’ still losing to vios and city.
wow, facelift every year? what will happened to the market
Wow, getting 1.5 iHEV?
I love the new iGT Turbo 4 cylinder. More fuel efficient and responsive.
