Overview
The Proton Saga is a five-seat A-segment petrol sedan for buyers who want a front-wheel-drive automatic with a 1.5-litre engine. This generation launches in 2025 and comes in Standard, Executive and Premium forms. Prices start from RM38,990. It suits motorists after a straightforward small sedan rather than an SUV or hatchback.
Saga in 2026 — what's new
The Proton Saga carries into 2026 unchanged as the MC3, with no 2026-specific mechanical or range revision indicated. The current line-up remains Standard, Executive and Premium. It uses a revised Advanced Modular Architecture platform and a Geely-derived 1.5-litre i-GT four-cylinder engine producing 118 hp. The Premium uses a CVT, while the Executive is tested with a 4AT. April deliveries reach 8,207 units.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers on a strict budget should start with the RM38,990 Standard, as all three versions have the same 1,499 cc, 118 hp petrol engine, front-wheel drive and five seats. The Executive costs RM44,990, a RM6,000 step up, while the RM49,990 Premium adds a CVT automatic. Pay RM10,000 over Standard for Premium only if the CVT is important to you. On paper you are paying for trim rather than extra power; check the equipment list before choosing Executive.

Verdict
The MC3 is more than a cosmetic refresh: it gets a revised AMA platform and a new 1.5-litre engine. It has also attracted strong demand, with nearly 100,000 bookings recorded by the month before its full review and 8,207 deliveries in April. But it costs RM4,410 more at entry than the RM34,580 Perodua Bezza, so the Saga cannot claim the lowest starting price in this class.
