The Mk1 eMas 5 carries into 2026 unchanged, retaining Prime and Premium versions. Both are rear-wheel-drive, five-seat electric hatchbacks, while the Prime uses a 30.12 kWh battery and the Premium a 40.16 kWh unit. The eMas 5 leads Proton’s eMas sales in July 2026 and accounts for 54% of Malaysia’s EV market in August. It is also undergoing PDRM police-car testing with free charging from Gentari.

Most buyers should pick the Prime at RM59,800 if 225 km of quoted range suits their daily use. The Premium costs RM72,800. Its RM13,000 gap buys a 40.16 kWh battery, 325 km of range and a 114 hp rear motor, against the Prime’s 30.12 kWh pack, 225 km and 77 hp. Pay more for the Premium when the extra 100 km of quoted range matters; both have five seats, rear-wheel drive and a single-ratio automatic.
Verdict
The eMas 5 is Malaysia’s EV sales leader, taking 54% of the market in August 2026, so its appeal is clear. The Prime starts below the RM67,800 Wuling Bingo, the cheapest named same-class rival. But the Premium costs RM5,000 more than the Bingo, while remaining below the RM100,000 Dongfeng Box and RM100,888 MG 4. The two-model range gives buyers a clear range-and-power choice.
