Overview
The BMW iX is a five-seat executive electric SUV for buyers wanting an all-wheel-drive BMW with long claimed driving range and substantial power. The I20 LCI generation launched in 2025, and the range starts from RM425,800. Two versions are available, both with a single-ratio automatic transmission and AWD.
iX in 2026 — what's new
For 2026, the BMW iX carries on as the 2025-launched I20 LCI. The current line-up consists of the xDrive45 Sport and xDrive60 M Sport Pro, both five-seat AWD electric SUVs with a single-ratio automatic transmission. The xDrive45 uses a 100.6 kWh battery and has a claimed 602 km range, while the xDrive60 has a 111.5 kWh battery and a claimed 701 km range.
Which variant to buy
Most buyers should take the BMW iX xDrive45 Sport at RM425,800. Its 402 hp, AWD layout and 602 km claimed range are already serious numbers, while it undercuts the Volvo EX90, Lexus RZ and Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. Step up to the RM487,800 xDrive60 M Sport Pro if the extra RM62,000 matters less than maximum range and power: it brings 701 km, 536 hp and a larger 111.5 kWh battery. The xDrive45 has the clearer price case.
Verdict
The iX is expensive, but the xDrive45 starts below the RM428,888 Volvo EX90, RM429,888 Lexus RZ and RM443,888 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. It combines 402 hp with a 602 km claimed range; the xDrive60 raises those figures to 536 hp and 701 km, but costs more than all three. Choose based on how often the additional 99 km of claimed range will genuinely be useful.
