Proton eMas 5 EV reaches 5,000 units sales milestone

Proton eMas 5 EV reaches 5,000 units sales milestone

The Proton eMas 5 has breached the 5,000 units sales milestone within two months of its introduction. This comes after the budget EV recorded 1,562 units in February 2026, building on the 3,026 units from January. The eMas 5’s contributed the lion’s share of Proton eMas’ total sales of 1,928 units last month.

Pro-Net, which handles the Proton eMas brand, says that this 5k milestone achievement is ‘unmatched by any EV brand in Malaysia within a similar timeframe’. Unsurprisingly, the eMas 5 tops the EV sales charts for February and year-to-date 2026. It’s also No.5 overall when taking into account ICE-powered car sales.

“Surpassing 5,000 deliveries in just two months and achieving more than 3,500 bookings for the eMas 7 PHEV within one and a half months clearly demonstrate that Malaysians are embracing electrified mobility at an accelerating pace. These results validate our strategy of offering practical, value-driven electrification solutions tailored for the local market,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of Pro-Net.

“We are humbled by the strong response, but we are equally confident that our focus on building a complete EV ecosystem, from product innovation to ownership support, is what truly differentiates the eMas brand. Our goal is to make electrified mobility accessible, reassuring and relevant for everyday Malaysian families,” he added.

Launched in October 2025, the eMas 5 is Proton’s entry-level EV with a rear-mounted motor. The base Prime produces 79 PS (58 kW) and 130 Nm, and offers a WLTP range of 225 km from its 30.12 kWh CATL LFP battery. The Premium churns out 116 PS (85 kW) and 150 Nm, and its larger 40.16 kWh battery provides 325 km of range.

After Pro-Net extended the RM3,000 launch rebate indefinitely, the eMas 5’s on-the-road prices are RM56,800 for the Prime and RM69,800 for Premium. Full details here.

  • Seen quite a lot of emas5 around sarawak cities. It looks better in real life and bigger than a myvi g3. Most common colours i came across are cream, silver and grey with all being the premium spec.
