Another special edition Suzuki Jimny teased for M’sia?

Another special edition Suzuki Jimny teased for M’sia?

Go to Suzuki Cars Malaysia’s Facebook page and you’ll see this, along with the caption “Elevated safety, uncompromised value and adventure redefined. Crafted for those who seek more excitement, with peace of mind included at no extra cost.”

We don’t need to tell you what car is sitting under that white cloth. But as far as we know, there isn’t (yet?) a new Suzuki Jimny globally; it’s still the same fourth-gen model that was born in 2018. And the Jimny isn’t a car that gets facelifted very often.

Since its Malaysian launch in 2021, there’s actually only been one proper new model (OK, offshoot) – the RM200k 5-Door – all other launches have been of special editions like 2023’s Rhino Edition (top left) and 2024’s Rainforest (bottom left), Black Edition (bottom left) and Arctic (right). So are we about to welcome yet another special edition, or will there be some under-the-skin upgrades?

The caption gives us some clues – “elevated safety” could mean six airbags (currently the three-door has two; only the 5-Door has six) and perhaps AEB, but “no extra cost” on top of which price – the RM159k regular model, the RM168k Arctic, the RM169k Rainforest, the RM172k Black Edition or the RM175k Rhino?

to anyone buying a jimny as their primary car, please dont. Owned one thinking I can probably live with it’s shortcomings (there’s a lot of compromise here!), but alas it is just too impractical as a daily driver.

must be insane to spend 150k on a junk jimny when he could instead have a Jaecoo or Omoda or GWM or Haval .

It has the mechanicals of an Aruz , but cost twice as much. Just too bare bone to be a lifestyle product such as a mini.

Japanese engineers are one of the smartest i have worked with, and they definitely know what they are doing, they sell a Lexus to last, deliver their promise and honor it till the end.

they were so smart that they knowingly sold millions of defective takata airbags which killed or maimed hundreds of drivers.
also smart to sabatoge their own ceo carlos ghosn.

LOL. While I do like the car, I wouldn’t put “Value” in the same sentence..with 160k-175k.

recond jimny without warranty are being dumped in malaysian market for around RM130k. and many foolish malaysians including peppapigga happily buying it instead of a brand new commie car with warranty.

I used to own a Vitara 3-door for daily work at construction sites back in the 90s, Jimny is too bare bones and now new models are RM150k and above, unrealistic prices just to look cool but suffer compared to buying a CRV, Cross or CCP SUV at the same price range. Even 70k Perodua Suvs are better equipped, softer on the behind for long trips and fuel sipping.
