Overview
The Volkswagen Arteon is a D-segment five-door fastback for buyers who want a design-led alternative to a conventional sedan. In Malaysia, the Mk1.5 Arteon is sold as the 2.0 TSI 4Motion R-Line IQ DRIVE, a five-seat petrol hatchback with a wet dual-clutch automatic, priced from RM291,012.
Arteon in 2026 — what's new
There is no 2026-specific update for the Arteon, so it carries on unchanged into 2026 in regular 2.0 TSI 4Motion R-Line IQ DRIVE form. The latest movement came in 2025, when the Arteon Wolfsburg Edition was launched from RM265k with special design touches, added kit and a better Volkswagen Assurance Package. A 2019-2024 Arteon recall over a heat protection mat was also issued in 2024.
Verdict
The Arteon is at its best if the five-door fastback shape is the reason you are shopping. It has Passat underpinnings but aims higher, with a higher price than its sibling and a position inside premium-brand territory. That matters: the Arteon costs more than the A250 at RM263,888 and the BMW 3 Series entry point from RM264k. Buy it for the body style and specification, not bargain pricing.
