Malaysia car sales in July 2026 – Bezza leads again, eMas 5 sixth as first EV in the overall top 10

New car registration data from the road transport department (JPJ) is out, showing the bestselling cars for the month of July 2026. The Perodua Bezza stays on top for a second month running, with 9,821 units registered in July 2026, part of Perodua’s monthly tally of 31,842 units.

The Proton Saga again takes second with 7,814 units, a gap of just over 2,000 units to the Bezza, while the Perodua Axia holds third with 7,154 units. Perodua remained the top brand overall with 31,842 units in July 2026, up 15.7% on the month.

At the seven-month mark, the year-to-date (YTD) order at the top is unchanged: the Bezza leads with 57,284 units, ahead of the Saga on 52,048 and the Axia on 44,064. The Perodua Myvi is fourth with 5,472 units (34,584 YTD) and the Perodua Alza fifth with 4,233 units (23,737 YTD), giving Perodua four of the top five places.

The standout of the month sits in sixth: the Proton e.MAS 5 stormed to 2,402 units, up from 13th in June and its best month yet, making it the highest-placed electric vehicle ever to appear on this chart. It is the first time an EV has cracked the overall top 10, let alone the top six, and it did so comfortably.

The Honda City is seventh with 2,362 units (14,483 YTD), easing back after June’s surge, followed by the Toyota Hilux in eighth with 2,293 units, its best month of the year (12,272 YTD). The Perodua Traz is ninth with 2,244 units (12,997 YTD) and the Toyota Vios completes the top 10 with 2,185 units (11,063 YTD).

Just outside are the Perodua Ativa in 11th (1,959 units), the Proton X50 in 12th (1,953 units) and the Proton S70 in 13th (1,886 units). The Toyota Alphard is 14th (1,576) and the Toyota Yaris Cross 15th (1,381).

The rest of the 20 is filled out by the Honda Civic in 16th (1,274 units), the Toyota Corolla Cross 17th (1,140), the Honda HR-V 18th (986), the plug-in hybrid Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV 19th (872) and the Perodua Aruz 20th (850).
