2026 iCaur 03 CKD launched in Malaysia – same specs as CBU; RM129,880 iWD; 279 PS, up to 418 km NEDC

2026 iCaur 03 CKD launched in Malaysia – same specs as CBU; RM129,880 iWD; 279 PS, up to 418 km NEDC

iCaur Malaysia has delivered on its promise to locally assemble (CKD) vehicles in Malaysia, with the company announcing that the 03 is now rolling off the line at Chery Corporate Malaysia’s plant in Shah Alam.

“Moving into local assembly is a meaningful step for us. It brings together local pride and global technology, while allowing us to meet growing demand without changing what customers already love about the iCaur 03. These locally assembled units retain 100% of the high-standard specifications, engineering standards and ‘Born to Play’ character that customers experienced with the CBU model,” said Francis Chin, senior director of iCaur Malaysia.

The 03 is iCaur’s first model to go on sale in Malaysia back in September 2025, with two fully-imported (CBU) variants of the fully electric model made available to customers. The base variant is the 2WD that goes for RM119,940 on-the-road without insurance, while at the top of the range is the iWD at RM130,080 – these figures were updated this year to reflect road tax charges that apply to electric vehicles (EVs) beginning January 1, 2026.

In CKD form, the 03 is currently only available in iWD guise that retails for RM129,880 OTR without insurance. iCaur Malaysia is also throwing in a package with each purchase that includes a 7 kW AC home charger as well as complimentary scheduled service for two years or 45,000 km, whichever comes first.

As before, the 03 comes with a seven-year, 150,000-km vehicle warranty and a separate eight-year,160,000-km warranty for the battery and electric drive unit. Should the battery health fall below 70% within the battery warranty period, a one-to-one replacement will be provided.

The asking price is basically similar to the CBU version, which if you remember was a beneficiary of the EV tax holiday. If you want some numbers for comparison, the CBU version of the 03 iWD with road tax included is RM200 more than the new CKD, while the road tax-free 03 iWD CBU was listed at RM129,800. The 03 CKD will gain a 2WD variant later on, the company said.

In terms of specifications, the CKD version of the iWD is identical to the CBU. As such, you get a dual-motor setup with a front electric motor rated at 95 PS (94 hp or 70 kW) and 165 Nm of torque, while a rear motor contributes 184 PS (181 hp or 135 kW) and 220 Nm.

2026 iCaur 03 CKD launched in Malaysia – same specs as CBU; RM129,880 iWD; 279 PS, up to 418 km NEDC

Total system output is 279 PS (275 hp or 205 kW) and 385 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 6.5 seconds and top speed of 150 km/h. Powering the motors is a 69.8-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery for up to 418 km of range following the NEDC standard (WLTP is generally 20% lower at 334 km).

AC charging peaks at 6.6 kW while it is 80 kW for DC fast charging, the latter capable of getting the battery from a 30-80% state of charge in around 30 minutes. There’s also a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system that delivers up to 3.2 kW to power accessories or electrical appliances.

Standard equipment include 19-inch wheels, LED headlamps with adaptive high beam, a panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade, faux leather seat upholstery, powered front seats, dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, front and rear seat ventilation and massaging front seats.

The list continues with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 50-watt wireless charging pad, 10 drive modes keyless entry and start, ambient lighting, six airbags, a 540-degree around view monitor, a 360-degree driving video recorder. For RM20,000 more, you can make your 03 iWD a Black Phantom Edition that adds on a bodykit with wheel arch extensions, a matte black finish, a roof rack and accompanying side ladder for that off-roader look.

The 03 also comes with a Level 2 ADAS suite with features such as autonomous emergency braking, front and rear collision warning, emergency lane keeping, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, blind spot monitoring and door opening warning.

“The iCaur 03 is only the beginning of what we want to build in Malaysia,” said Daniel Lai, Marketing director of iCaur Malaysia. “Our focus is to continue introducing NEV that are stylish, intelligent, and full of character — vehicles that reflect the way people live, move, and express themselves today,” he added.

Main worry is parking it overnight in the car porch. There’s is no plan B if it catches fire while your entire family is deep in sleep upstairs (double storey terrace). Best case is everyone get to escape, but u still have to watch your entire house burn down because we can’t stop the thermal run away

Maybe you need to compare the ratio of gasoline car burning vs EV car burning.
What is your Plan B when your clunker is burning?

It’s always attention seeking despite later achieve less. It’s fascinating to watch new technology incident despite growing safer and better.

gasoline car wont burn itself while parking at home.. EV charging will burn… how to compare? dum S

        • Overall, an EV remains statistically much safer during a example of 5-day parked period than a gasoline vehicle. Both have their own unique risks.

Gasoline fuel line leaks leading to ignition, even at idling, remain a traditional risk that we have yet to see eliminated.

How sure are you that this is not another gimmick junk? How many decades of history does this carry? Are you implying that the people who gave us the Suzuki Fronx, Subaru Crosstrek, Ford Ecosport, Mitsubishi Xforce etc have no clue on what they have been doing the last 50 yrs and suddenly, CCP has figured out a solution to all the problems to car making overnight? You’re comparing a EV to traditional ICE SUV. How does that make sense? Are you saying this CCP SUV handles better than the Suzuki/Subaru, more reliable than a Ford and performs better than a Mitsubishi ? Sounds like a typical CCP junk.

for the equivalent price of circa RM130k you cant deny that this ccp EV is overall superior to anything that the japs or europeans can offer.
hope you arent gonna compare it to more expensive vhicles such as the Patrol, Land Cruiser, Pajero, Bronco, Urus etc as you did in another comment. those vehicles are far more expensive hence not a fair comparison.

    • Suzuki Jimny handles better than this? Someone clearly is a blind Jap fanboi.

The 2026 iCar 03 CKD is Malaysia’s “durian runtuh,” localizing high-tech EV power at just RM129,880.

With 279 PS and 418km range, progressive national policies are successfully escalating our industry to a global level, making elite performance accessible to all Malaysians.

If you let Huawei compete freely, not ban them since 2019.

The world could have changed and upgraded rapidly.

Apple will launch iPhone with 200mp camera, foldable phones, and larger battery, will catch up.

CKD same price as CBU. I think i rather trust CBU quality than our local CKD. See see power window supplier from crony proton and you get power window problem after 1 year.

And 2026 we still have ev maker trying to push dinosaur below 7kw AC charging.
