MIROS inviting public feedback on development of Malaysia’s autonomous vehicle roadmap

Malaysia’s transport ministry, in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and Cyberview subsidiary Futurise, is inviting public feedback on the development of the country’s autonomous vehicle roadmap.

In a statement, MIROS said the initiative “forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to establish a strategic, phased and safety-driven direction for the safe development and deployment of autonomous vehicle technology in Malaysia.”

“The proposed roadmap is expected to serve as an important reference in shaping national approaches to policy, legislation, safety requirements, infrastructure readiness, testing mechanisms, public acceptance and the overall autonomous vehicle industry ecosystem,” the statement added.

Submit your feedback here by June 30, 2026. Deputy investment, trade and industry minister Sim Tze Tzin said recently that Malaysia is aiming to achieve Level 3 autonomous driving capability by 2030, and a recent Ipsos survey found that 61% of Malaysians would feel safe riding in an autonomous vehicle.

Please ban bike on highway and please enforce bike lanes. No matter how canggih the autonomous system, if this pesky rempit is on the road, full autonomous system will fail.

    • Polis, JPJ do roadblock and bikers quickly u-turn and run away. No action by authorities. just let them go. Looks like they’re not serious about catching these fellas. All wayang.

Yes, true. Even a quantum computer is not fast enough to anticipate the rempit’s moves.

drivers created mat rempits actually. Why?
because drivers always tip-toe around bikes, trying to protect these rempits from injury. Over time, rempits felt like kings because cars are “afraid” of them.

Perhaps cars should do the task of “cleaning up the streets” from rempits. Lorry drivers also invited to take part.

Banning bike on highway is really unfair, they also need to travel and cari makan, not everyone can afford to own, maintain, pay toll, petrol and parking for a car.

However I do fully support banning bike from lane splitting/overtake on fast (right most) lane on the road that have 3 lanes or more. If accident happened here, automatically bikes fault because they are riding on the wrong place.

Keep the bikes at least 12 months before allowing release. That will teach them a lesson. Or two.Especially the loud noise.. really a nuisance.

  • Mental riders and drivers are everywhere.

Malaysia records an average of 14 to 18 road accident fatalities per day. This means someone loses their life on Malaysian roads roughly every 1.5 to 2 hours.

Meanwhile, in the fully autonomous (Level 4-5) testing and commercial era, there have been fewer than 10 confirmed direct fatalities involving autonomous vehicles (AVs) without human safety drivers, with over 350 million kilometers (over 220 million miles) logged globally.

There should be a law allowing Police to shoot bikes at sight. Bloody menace, parasites.
