The Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro 4Matic+ Motorsport Collectors Edition is now in Malaysia, with just a few units set to be offered here.
More powerful than the GT63 4Matic+ launched here in June last year, the Pro version of the two-door coupe features a hand-built M177 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that serves up 612 PS (603 hp or 450 kW) and 850 Nm of torque. For context, the regular GT63 packs 585 PS (577 hp or 430 kW) and 800 Nm.
The V8 is paired with an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic, which has a wet multi-disc start-off clutch, to send drive to either the rear or all four wheels via the AMG Performance 4Matic+ system. Performance-wise, the GT63 Pro will get from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and maxes out at 317 km/h – the regular GT63 has the same century sprint time but its Vmax is lesser at 315 km/h.
The Motorsport Collectors Edition of the GT63 Pro celebrates the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team by sporting numerous individual design elements and equipment details. As an example, the obsidian black metallic exterior is inspired by the team’s current Formula One racer, as is the hand-painted star pattern on the rear flanks.
You’ll also spot the Petronas-coloured decorative stripes that extend from the front fenders over beltline to the roof, with further instances of the oil and gas company’s iconic green serving as a contrast colour on the front splitter, flics of the front side air intakes, rocker panels and rear diffuser.
Elsewhere, there are 21-inch AMG forged wheels in a cross-spoke design with a matte black finish and green-coloured rim flanges, wrapped in gripped Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres. The green hue is also applied to the callipers of the standard AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system.
Carbon-fibre is prominent in motorsport and the GT63 Pro Motorsport Collectors Edition gets plenty of it. As part of the standard AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package, the front splitter, side sill trims, diffuser and rear wing are all made out of the lightweight material. Also on are a panaromic glass roof and AMG Aerodynamics package which includes a fixed rear wing on the tailgate.
For even more visual presence, the AMG Night Package II adds black chrome to many parts of the exterior, including the radiator trim, typography and rear Mercedes star. Pop open the fuel door and you’ll be greeted by an AMG fuel filler cap in silver chrome with ‘AMG’ lettering.
Moving inside, the AMG Performance seats are upholstered in black Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre with Petronas-coloured topstitching and embossed AMG crests in the head restraints. There’s no shortage of carbon-fibre for the interior either, as the material is used for many of the trim elements.
Finishing touches include AMG door sill trims in black and illuminated in the colour of Petronas, with the green also used for the stitching on the door trim panels. A ‘1 out of 200’ edition badge in the centre console serves a reminder to occupants that they are in something special.
This being a celebratory model, there’s plenty of standard equipment to enjoy, including a 15-speaker Burmester High End 3D Surround Sound system with 1,170 watts of amplication, a 360-degree camera, MBUX Interior Assistant, Driver Assistance Package, a head-up display, AMG Track Pace, ambient lighting, Energizing package and front axle lifter.
Production of the GT63 Pro Motorsport Collectors Edition is limited to just 200 units globally, making this a rather exclusive offering and should be rare sight on our roads. This rarity doesn’t come cheap, as the estimated price is RM2,588,888 on-the-road without insurance. The regular GT63 4Matic+ Coupe goes for RM1,882,888, which is RM706,000 less.
