The H247 Mercedes-Benz GLA has been around for some time now, but with its electric successor seemingly still at least a year away from being launched here, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has seen fit to update the compact SUV with a new Nightfall Edition, bringing with it some significant kit upgrades.
Prices remain the same as before, at RM258,888 for the GLA200 Nightfall Edition and RM295,888 for the GLA250 Nightfall Edition. Both figures are on-the-road without insurance inclusive of a four-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.
The big news is that both models now come with the look-faster AMG Line package, which was previously only offered on the GLA250; the GLA200 had hitherto been saddled with the Progressive Line look. This adds a more aggressive front bumper, a diffuser-like rear valance and cross-drilled sports brakes.
The GLA200 also inherits the GLA250’s 19-inch five-split-spoke AMG alloy wheels (still two-tone but with a black instead of grey finish), the range-topping model instead graduating to 20-inch black multi-spoke rollers. The GLA250 also gains Multibeam LED matrix projector headlights, a big step up from the LED reflector lamps still fitted to the GLA200.
As the name suggests, the Nightfall Edition adds the Night Package that finishes the grille bar, front lip spoiler, side skirt and rear bumper inserts, door mirrors, roof rails and exhaust tips in gloss black.
Inside, the two cars are very similar, with the GLA200 gaining Artico faux leather and microfibre upholstery, an AMG Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, sports seats, brushed aluminium trim, alloy pedals and black headlining already fitted to the GLA250. Addressing a previous glaring omission, both models now come with Thermotronic dual-zone auto air con – which finally adds rear air vents – as well as a 360-degree camera.
Otherwise, the kit list remains identical and includes MBUX infotainment with twin 10.25-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Qi wireless charger and, yes, still only six speakers. You also get keyless entry, push-button start, power-adjustable front seats with memory, 64-colour ambient lighting, park assist and a hands-free powered tailgate.
Safety kit is also untouched, with both models coming with seven airbags (including a driver’s knee airbag), stability control and a basic list of driver assists such as autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, a door opening warning, a driver attention monitor and auto high beam. The GLA250 adds adaptive high beam and hardware for Distronic adaptive cruise control pre-installed, although you’ll have to pay a subscription to use the latter.
No changes to the mechanicals, either, with the GLA200 being powered by a Renault-derived M282 1.3 litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 163 PS at 5,500 rpm and 250 Nm of torque from 1,620 to 4,000 rpm. This is mated to a Getrag seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with drive sent to the front wheels.
Meanwhile, the GLA250 is as per what was offered starting in 2024, with Mercedes’ in-house M260 2.0 litre turbo four making 224 PS at 5,500 rpm and 350 Nm between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. This is now mated to a 48-volt belt-driven starter-generator (BSG) that provides an extra 14 PS and 150 Nm of accelerative boost, along with an eight-speed DCT and 4Matic all-wheel drive.

Look so dated
Why GLA/Eqa seats not comfortable and feel so hard?
merc seats have been rock hard since long ago. its not a new thing . the leather , center console, arm rest all are hard
Mazda cx-60 or cx-80 would be a better proposition instead. Both matched and even exceeded the merc models hands down.
the sort of idiots that buy this german sausage lapsap
260k is cheap considering the gla45 amg is almost half million
Yes RM260k isn’t much, but today you can get way better modern product for much cheaper this Merc a total garbage for the money.
