The Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6 and G 500 4×4² are just some of the outlandish off-road vehicles the German carmaker has in its line-up. Now, the company has released a teaser of an upcoming model that looks to revive a G-Class body style that was previously offered by the company.
This horizontally-challenged image posted on Mercedes’ official Facebook page is meant to depict the upcoming G 65 AMG 4×4² Cabriolet. As you can see, flared wheel arches and a wide stance (as seen on other 4×4² models), a large third brake light positioned above the spare wheel, and most importantly, an open top are all featured on the upcoming model.
The suggestive number plate also indicates that the standard G 65’s 6.0 litre biturbo V12 will provide the necessary grunt for the new model to perform its on- and off-road duties. On the fixed top G-Wagen, the mill provides 621 hp and 1000 Nm of torque, directed through a seven-speed transmission.
As mentioned earlier, a drop-top G-Wagen isn’t something new to the company, as it was previously offered for 34 years until 2013, when production of the body style came to an end due to lack of interest.
However, with Range Rover launching a convertible version of its Evoque, Mercedes will certainly want to re-enter that niche, and the G 65 AMG 4×4² Cabriolet is destined to fill that role. More details about the new Mercedes will be revealed in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Oh so like every single Jeep Wrangler ever.
This G63 looks like it is more suitable for African hunting expedition or 4 Arnold Schwarzenegger new Terminator Movie. With a 6.0 litre biturbo V12, this car Roadtax & Insurance will cost a bomb.
I am wondering which Tan Sri’s will buy this Merc just to park it at home. As it is, the older G-class is as rare as a Ferrari GTO 250 in our shore.
