Malaysia to implement B10 biodiesel on Dec 1 – report

biodiesel

The implementation of B10 biodiesel in the country for transport sector is finally set to kick off in less than a month’s time on December 1, according to Reuters.

The news agency reported that the programme will be introduced in stages starting in Johor, while B7 biodiesel for the industrial sector will also be rolled out nationwide on the same date. The impending move was stated in an email sent out by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board to industry players.

Exempted from the mandate are petrol stations selling Euro 5 diesel, as well as sensitive industrial machinery not suited for biodiesel; however, the latter requires “technical justification” from the machine manufacturer.

The full implementation of B10 biodiesel is expected to make use of 750,000 tonnes of palm oil each year, said Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) minister Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong in August. The government was initially slated to introduce the fuel in June, but shelved it after it emerged there was inadequate data that the fuel was compliant with carmakers’ specifications.

We’ve reached out to a BMW Malaysia spokesperson, who responded with a statement recommending its customers to use Euro 5 diesel, which remains on the B7 blend. “BMW Malaysia is recommending all users of its diesel vehicles to utilise Euro 5 diesel, available at many BHPetrol and Shell stations and a growing number of Petronas and Petron stations. Our engines work better with Euro 5 diesel,” he said.

Malaysia’s biggest achievement. They take existing diesel 90%, campur it with 10% oil palm, then it becomes biodiesel!

Then they syiok sendiri that we have invented the greatest discovery ever. Oh yeah, don’t forget the hundreds of millions went into researching this biodiesel.

Actually you are absolutely correct. Older diesel are fully able run b100 biodiesel because there’s no diesel particulate filter that needs regeneration

Bodoh punya kerajaan. Before you sell B10, make sure all your stations have Euro 5 diesel and all your cars and lorries and busses also use Euro 5

Why have all these B5 nonsense when 90% of the lorries and busses emit thick black smoke that cause Malaysians illness and suffering?

Basic pun tak ada, you want to do advanced?

Most important is to eradicate all commercial lorries still using Euro 2M diesel.

It is costing the Government more in medical and hospital bills as more and more patients are being admitted for lung poisoning of Euro 2M arsenic and toxic fuel

      Well-loved. Thumb up 84 Thumb down 3

F! How then, for so many of the states/cities that yet to have euro5 diesel.? This does not protect the consumers rights. Buyers/ owners have the right to choice, in his/her own perception, which is the best for his/her personal items. This is nothing more then just another selfies interest protection for a industry monies gain, at the expense of the nation’s citizens. Please require all the diesel station to have both B10 and euro5 as standard,
So that customer have the right to choose.

First, our gov remove subsidies for palm cooking oil. Now, they are introducing B10 diesel so that they can make more $$$ for cronies. The Rakyat are getting screwed 1 way or another.

If i say the gov are broke bcos they have to take from the Rakyat(rich & Poor) in the form of GST & remove subsidies, in-order to pay higher BR1M to the B40.

Pity the M-40 who got no BR1M & have to pay more for cooking oil & diesel to offset the gov dwindling coffers.

The rich have no problem bcos they are immune to price hike. Maybe john have answers for the gov bcos he always has at least 1. john, please share your thoughts.

Heard rumors that this might be a reaction due to EU wanting to ban palm-based cooking oil…

    Please verify

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0
    • Nope. Biodiesel has been ongoing for years, starting with B5 then B7 now B10. About ban, its not a ban but additional levy on palm oil usage and by products, and its not EU just France only.

Biodiseal doesn’t make sense as it is more expensive to produce than fossil based diesel and it results in more fuel consumption and less power to the car. There is no benefit to the rakyat. It only benefits palm oil producers who should find new markets for their product instead of taking the easy way out by being rent-seekers.

    Poor businesses always want tongkats.
Why palm oil becomes tak laku, and needs pertolongan cemas?
You see, it is so easy to make a rule that every Americans must use B15 in USA, and this is called non-selective justice, according to Joan’s logic.
