Those who purchased a BMW, MINI, BMW Motorrad, BYD, Denza, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche, Volvo and pre-owned vehicles from Auto Selection in the final quarter of 2025 qualified, and 44 customers already walked away with prizes worth over RM400,000.

  • Sime Motors launches BYD Mansion Macalister – brand’s 1st heritage-concept showroom in Penang

Sime Motors launches BYD Mansion Macalister – brand’s 1st heritage-concept showroom in Penang

Sime Darby Beyond Auto has launched BYD Mansion Macalister, its new showroom in Penang that is located along the historic Jalan Macalister.

Set on a 26,994 square feet parcel of land with approximately 9,000 square feet of built-up space, the showroom reuses a century-old building that previously served as a commercial landmark in the local community.

The building’s distinctive architectural character was preserved while restoration works were carried out to create the BYD showroom, which features a contemporary retail environment showcasing the brand’s electrical mobility focus.

Through these efforts, BYD Mansion Macalister is being dubbed Malaysia’s first BYD heritage-concept showroom. Within the built-up space is a showroom floor that can accommodate up to four vehicles within a gallery-like setting. There are also lounge-style consultation areas as well as a private delivery room for customers.

Additionally, an on-site service centre with five work bays, an alignment bay and three service reception bays serve to meet the aftersales needs of customers. The mansion also features a charging hub with one 60 kW DC fast charger and seven AC chargers.

“BYD Mansion Macalister represents an important milestone in how we continue to evolve the automotive retail experience. By transforming a historic property into a modern electric mobility destination, we are not only preserving an important part of Penang’s architectural heritage, but also creating a meaningful space where customers can experience the future of mobility,” said Andrew Basham, managing director of Sime Motors.

“The opening of BYD Mansion in Macalister is a meaningful milestone for BYD in Malaysia, reflecting our continued commitment to growing the brand in ways that are closer to local communities. What makes this showroom especially significant is how it brings together premium customer experience, innovation, and uniquely Malaysian cultural touches, creating a space that not only showcases our vehicles, but also reflects the warmth, identity, and progress of the market we are proud to serve,” added Jacob Ma, deputy general manager of BYD Malaysia.

  • BYD Atto 3 Ultra gets new Atlantis Grey colour option – limited tax-free EV stock offered at RM105,800

BYD Atto 3 Ultra gets new Atlantis Grey colour option – limited tax-free EV stock offered at RM105,800

BYD has announced that the Atto 3 Ultra is still available in tax-free form at a promotional price of RM105,800. Stocks are limited. There’s also a new Atlantis Grey exterior colour option to go with the three existing choices – Ski White, Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black.

Two greys then? Previously available on BYD models like the Seal, Sealion 7 and Dolphin, Atlantis Grey looks more like a shade of blue than grey – it looks like this in the metal.

The BYD Atto 3 Ultra was launched in Malaysia in March 2025. It’s an updated version of the previous Extended Premium variant with revised trim, more kit and a lower price (from RM118,800) to compete with the Proton eMas 7, which deliveries started in early 2025.

Updates include a new 18-inch wheel design, a minor revision to the headlamps and black lower trim to replace silver. Inside, the Ultra’s upholstery is black (was blue) with yellow contrast (was red). The quirky ‘guitar strings’ on the door pockets are now black instead of red. Ventilated seats and an NFC digital key joined the kit list.

No changes underneath, which means that the pioneering EV (for the current wave) is powered by a front motor with 204 PS and 310 Nm, good for 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The single motor gets juice from a 60.48 kWh in-house Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that offers up to 420 km of WLTP range. As for charging, the max rates are 88 kW DC (10-80% SoC in 40 minutes) and 7 kW AC.

  • BYD Sime Motors celebrates 3 years in Malaysia – over 25k cars OTR, Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand, CKD in 2026

BYD Sime Motors celebrates 3 years in Malaysia – over 25k cars OTR, Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand, CKD in 2026

BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, is celebrating its third anniversary as Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand, with over 25,000 units sold to date. The company says that by choosing an EV, BYD owners have helped reduce over 62,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, equivalent to planting nearly 2.5 million trees every year.

BYD’s journey here started with the Atto 3’s launch in December 2022, and since then, EVs of different shapes and sizes have followed. This year, the BYD range added the Atto 2, Seal 6 and a refreshed Seal. There’s also the M6 MPV and Sealion 7.

“This is another milestone we’re truly proud of. To now have more than 25,000 Malaysians as part of the BYD family is incredibly rewarding, and it shows how quickly the EV movement is growing in our country. Our commitment to a greener, smarter and safer driving experience has brought us here, and we’re deeply grateful for the trust Malaysians have placed in us. We’re excited to continue this journey together and to keep bringing the best products and technology to Malaysia,” said Eagle Zhao, MD of BYD Malaysia.

BYD Sime Motors celebrates 3 years in Malaysia – over 25k cars OTR, Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand, CKD in 2026

“In just three years, BYD has become a key pillar of Sime Motors’ automotive portfolio. We have a strong foundation to drive EV adoption through our robust sales and aftersales network, advanced facilities, and skilled EV talent. Our vehicles have transformed Malaysia’s roads, making electric mobility more accessible and practical for everyone. Thank you to all BYD owners in Malaysia for your trust and support. Exemplary ownership experience remains our top priority,” said Jeffrey Gan, MD of Southeast Asia, Sime Motors.

BYD Sime Motors’ nationwide network has 39 sales and marketing outlets and 24 aftersales service centres to date, complemented by 12 body and paint centres and a centralised parts warehouse with over 4,600 line items – the latter maintains a 94% fill rate for industry-leading repair turnaround, the company says.

Looking ahead, BYD and Sime Motors’ 2026 roadmap will focus on the establishment of CKD local assembly operations. Announced in August this year, a 600,000 sqm factory will be built in KLK TechPark, Tanjong Malim, with production set to start in the second half of 2026 – full story here.

BYD Malaysia’s 2025 YTD sales at 11,097 units into Nov, 70% up from 2024; 24,328 BYD/Denzas sold so far

Despite there still being a month and a half before the year is out, 2025 has already been a landmark year for BYD in Malaysia, with the Chinese brand announcing that its YTD sales in the country have hit a new record. Up into November, 11,097 units of BYD and Denza vehicles have been sold, and this is a 70% improvement over the same period in 2024, according to BYD Malaysia MD Eagle Zhao.

The brand also highlighted other relevant numbers during the media preview of the BYD Tech Discovery 2025 showcase, which starts today and runs until November 16. Total sales of BYD and Denza vehicles in Malaysia have now reached 24,328 units since its entry into Malaysia just under three years ago, in December 2022, when the Atto 3 was launched.

The latest overall figures come two months after the company stated that it had reached the 20,000-unit milestone. It presently has seven EVs on sale in Malaysia, these being the BYD Sealion 7, Seal sedan, Seal 6 EV, Atto 3, Atto 2 and M6 MPV, as well as the Denza D9 MPV.

In terms of infrastructure, the brand now has nearly 40 sales outlets across the country, and said it plans to increase the number to 50 by the end of 2026.

As for its after-sales operations, it currently has 24 outlets in place, and support for these come through 12 authorised body & paint centres and a centralised parts warehouse managing 4,610 line items, with a 94% fill rate for this.

  • Original Porsche 911 T becomes first in-house classic restoration in Malaysia at Porsche Centre Johor Bahru

Original Porsche 911 T becomes first in-house classic restoration in Malaysia at Porsche Centre Johor Bahru

Opened at the end of 2022, Malaysia’s first Porsche Classic Partner Centre at Porsche Centre Johor Bahru has wheeled out its first ground-up restoration – an original early-1970s Porsche 911 T.

This silver example, which appears to belong to Karrus Automotive Group founder Reza Mutalib, is the product of a months-long process undertaken entirely in-house by technicians certified under the Porsche Classic Partner programme. The nut-and-bolt restoration saw every worn-out panel and component disassembled, documented and rebuilt to original factory specifications, guided by factory standards.

Introduced in 1967, the 911 T (short for “Touring”) replaced the four-cylinder 912 as a less powerful, cut-price alternative to the standard 911. Despite boasting just 110 PS from its 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated flat-six, this stripped-out model holds an outsized influence on Zuffenhausen even today, serving as an inspiration for today’s entry-level, manual-transmission 911 Carrera T and the GT3 Touring.

The “2.2” rear windscreen sticker marks this out as the later circa-1970 911 T, which featured a larger 2.2 litre mill churning out 125 PS.

The Classic Partner certification means that Porsche Centre Johor Bahru’s body and paint services and its repair techniques have been tailored specifically for models that have been out of production for at least ten years. The facility joins one of the few global outlets endorsed by Porsche AG itself to preserve the brand’s classic sports cars.

  • 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 facelift launched in Malaysia – 992.2 is faster on track, gets 4 seats, fr RM2.29mil

2025 Porsche 911 GT3 facelift launched in Malaysia – 992.2 is faster on track, gets 4 seats, fr RM2.29mil

Nearly a full year after it was revealed to the world, the facelifted Porsche 911 GT3 has finally been launched in Malaysia. The driver-focused rear-engined sports car, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, enters the 992.2 generation bearing no additional power but a significant fine-tuning, plus the addition of several options hitherto reserved for other models in the lineup.

First, the price – the new 911 GT3 comes directly from Zuffenhausen costing a cool RM2,290,000 nett, inclusive of duties but excluding options and on-the-road costs. Launched alongside the standard winged model for the first time is the subtler Touring, which is supposedly a no-cost option but exacts a nominal RM2,018 premium here due to ISOFIX front child seat anchors fitted as standard.

All that cash buys you a car that, to an untrained eye, is hardly changed from the highly-acclaimed 992, but that would be a disservice to the amount of reengineering that’s been carried out under the skin. Let’s start with the engine, which has been substantially revised to counter the two particulate filters and four catalytic converters – required under stricter European emissions regulations – suffocating it.

2025 Porsche 911 GT3 facelift launched in Malaysia – 992.2 is faster on track, gets 4 seats, fr RM2.29mil

The sonorous high-revving 4.0 litre naturally-aspirated flat-six, still spinning to a dizzying 9,000 rpm, receives hotter cams from the track-spec GT3 RS, along with flow-optimised individual throttle bodies and redesigned oil coolers – all to keep power at the same 510 PS as before. Peak torque, meanwhile, has actually dropped for the first time on a GT3 to 450 Nm, still all sent to the rear.

To make up for this deficit, the 992.2 gets an eight per cent shorter final drive ratio for both the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and the no-cost six-speed GT manual. Zero to 100 km/h is again identical to the old car – 3.4 seconds for the PDK, 3.9 seconds for the manual – although the shorter gearing means the top speed is a trite lower at 311 km/h (313 km/h with the row-your-own shifter).

While Porsche hasn’t exactly moved the needle in terms of straight-line performance, a lot of work has taken place to make sure the GT3 is even more exhilarating in the corners. Like the latest ground-effect Formula 1 cars, the newest model employs anti-dive geometry – lifted from the RS – on the GT3-specific front double wishbone suspension to maintain downforce balance even under heavy braking.

2025 Porsche 911 GT3 facelift launched in Malaysia – 992.2 is faster on track, gets 4 seats, fr RM2.29mil

Also derived from the RS are teardrop-shaped front trailing arms to increase front downforce and improve brake cooling. The dampers, on the other hand, have been retuned to provide a modicum of extra ride comfort to address the one bugbear of the current model, while the steering has been made to respond “more calmly from the centre position without losing any of its directness,” according to rally legend Walter Röhrl.

The tweaks were put to the test by former Daytona winner Jörg Bergmeister, who set the manual transmission track record at the fearsome Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 6 minutes 56.294 seconds. That is over 9.5 seconds faster than the “significantly more powerful” previous record holder and beats even the car’s PDK-equipped predecessor by 3.633 seconds.

Bergmeister, who was on hand for the Malaysian launch at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit today, told us that the a PDK-specified example would have only been around 1.5 seconds faster, due to it being heavier than the stick.

“On the track, the new 911 GT3 enables even better control because it holds even steadier and handles better on bumps and when driving over kerbs thanks to the optimised damper tuning,” he said. “The anti-dive system noticeably reduces the pitching movement when braking. As a result, the balance of the car remains significantly more consistent under all conditions.”

The lap record was set using the standard GT3 with the Weissach package, which is being made available for the first time on a non-RS model. Exclusive to the winged version, it includes a carbon fibre roof, front bumper corners, rear wing endplates, door mirror caps and A-pillar triangle, as well as the rear anti-roll bar, coupling rods and shear panel.

You also get additional leather and Race-Tex microfibre trim (including the upper dashboard for the first time to reduce glare), along with carbon door handles and storage nets. Speccing this sure-to-be-desirable option is not cheap, costing a heady RM203,447 (RM254,739 with the carbon rear roll cage), although the Clubsport track pack that throws on a steel cage, a six-point driver’s harness and a lightweight fire extinguisher is another no-cost option.

The wingless Touring is instead offered with the Leichtbau (German for “lightweight”) package that throw on the carbon roof (here painted in body colour) and rear suspension components from the Weissach pack, along with lightweight door panels and a manual short shifter from the limited-run S/T. Ticking this box will cost you even more money, coming in at RM381,182.

Beyond the mechanical changes, the GT3 receives the redesigned headlights and wider taillights from elsewhere in the 992.2 lineup, the former integrating the previously-separate indicators and position lights. This cleans up the design of the front bumper and enables the air intake – which now dispenses of the body-coloured surround hitherto exclusive to the Touring model – to be made wider.

At the back, the rear diffuser – still housing dual central tailpipes – and rear deck have been redesigned, while the larger rear vents necessitated the repositioning of the fog lights. On the “regular” GT3, the endplates have been slightly re-profiled, while the new forged aluminium alloy wheels (measuring 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear) are over 1.5 kg lighter than the previous rollers.

On the options list (standard on the Leichtbau pack, hence the extra cost) are magnesium wheels that save a further nine kilograms. This, together with the 40 Ah lithium-ion battery that shaves four kilograms on top of that, means that the GT3 weighs just 1,420 kg in its lightest configuration – barely two kilos heavier than the outgoing model despite the additional emissions control equipment. The weight-to-power ratio is just 2.8 kg per PS as a result.

Inside, the GT3 again receives the upgrades from the greater 992.2 range, including the 12.6-inch fully-digital instrument display. This jettisons the analogue central rev counter but adds a rotatable digital version that places the redline at 12 o’clock, plus a reduced “Track Screen” mode.

The revised 10.9-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment touchscreen also gains a unique-to-GT3 driver assist shortcut that allows drivers to quickly turn off the default-on nannies. For the first time, the Touring can be had with four seats, in response to customer demand.

In Malaysia, the rear pews are fitted as standard, throwing on the aforementioned ISOFIX mounts. Access to the rear is freed up by the optional lightweight sports bucket seats, which can now fold and feature removable headrests, making helmet-wearing drivers more comfortable. As with all the options you’ve already seen, these pews costs a pretty penny at RM70,324 (yeowch).

The revamp was summed up by GT boss Andreas Preuninger, who said: “The new 911 GT3 has become even more exhilarating and individual. We dug into a wealth of details and gave it many features that our customers wanted. This allows the GT3 to be adapted even more specifically to the purpose or preferences of the driver.”
