Overview
The Chery Tiggo Cross is a five-seat B-segment SUV for buyers who want a choice between petrol and petrol-hybrid powertrains. This generation launches in 2025, with front-wheel drive throughout, and the range starts from RM88,800. The Turbo uses a wet dual-clutch automatic, while the Hybrid gets an eCVT.
Tiggo Cross in 2026 — what's new
The 2025-generation Tiggo Cross carries into 2026 with the Turbo and Hybrid models. A Turbo-based Tiggo Cross Sport Edition is revealed for Malaysia and is due to launch in October. It adds sportier front and rear lips to the Turbo-based package. The regular range continues to pair a 1.5-litre petrol turbo with a wet dual-clutch transmission or a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid system with an eCVT.
Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the RM88,800 Turbo. Its 145 hp 1.5-litre petrol engine and wet dual-clutch automatic make it the lower-cost route into the range, while retaining five seats and front-wheel drive. Pay RM99,800 for the Hybrid if its 295 hp petrol-hybrid powertrain and eCVT matter more than the RM11,000 saving. The two versions are separated chiefly by their drivetrains, so check the equipment list before treating the price gap as solely a performance upgrade.
Verdict
The Tiggo Cross gives buyers a clear petrol-or-hybrid decision in a compact five-seat SUV. At 4,318 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and with a 2,610 mm wheelbase, it is shorter but wider than the Proton X50, with a 10 mm longer wheelbase. The Turbo costs RM1,000 less than the X50, but more than the Ativa, Aruz and QV-E; it also sits below the WR-V and Seres 3 on price.
