Government vehicles using beacons and sirens must prioritise other road users’ safety, Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mohammed Hasbullah Ali has said, according to a Bernama report.
At the same time, road users must also be vigilant and extend full cooperation by giving way if there are enforcement vehicles or vehicles moving in an emergency state while carrying out official duties, he said.
“When at traffic lights, drivers of government vehicles equipped with such devices must ensure that other road users are in a safe condition first before proceeding with their journey,” he told a press conference yesterday.
Only vehicles belonging to ministries or agencies performing investigative and enforcement functions are permitted to use these devices, subject to the Sixth Schedule (Rule 24B) of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Rules 1959, he said.
Additionally, any road user approaching, obstructing the duties of, or tailgating an escorting enforcement team vehicle operating in emergency mode is committing an offence under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their public functions.

Feels like vague explanation. How about all those police escorts for Dato?
they explaining without explaining, end of the day any damage to your car or you they are not liable, because on official duty. simple.
only when incident happened, Government will take note of the issue, if not, keeping quiet and let it be. need to improve on this, else the country will just be 5×2 then 2×5
Apart from the King and PM, all others does not need police escort. Here, even a single X70 also got escort.
My question is very basic .. is the immigration dept truck that cause fatal accident, is carrying out enforcement task when the accident happens ?
Perhaps in future, if a truck size vehicle with sirens, it should have an outrider escort or patrol vehicle escort in front to make ways for continuous travel. otherwise it is very hazardous for other since truck don’t stop so fast and carrys momentums. Even in the case of escorted drive, perhaps we should have direct voice communication (hands free) between leading escort and the truck drivers to ensure coordinated movement.
From my experience, it is usually the police escort that is acting over enthusiastically – blaring their sirens and shouting “Beri laluan – beri laluan” to drivers who are slow to make way for them. They failed to understand that during rush hour traffic, there is little room to manoeuvre on highly congested roads. Notwithstanding, I believe the matter of conveying detainees does not fall under emergency regulations but is operational in nature.
Wat abt the police vehicles purposely put on siren to clear jammed n then off the siren after clearing , if they r responding to emergency case then the siren shld b on all the way if not,it clearly a misuse case.
You know, they are getting escort already and pushing through traffic, they dont need to be speeding. Why are they going down Tun Razak at 80km/h??? Do 50 to 60 max
Remember that one PM that ambulance need to stop for him that audacity.
Feel bad for those VIPs who don’t know how to use Ms Teams, Zoom, Webex and etc
Learn from Indonesia lah, just follow the traffic momentum, turning on your sirens nicely instead of like want to killing people, leave reasonable timing for road users clearing out the way for you. Not like everyone is doing 80km/h but you come like 130km/h, how fast are you expecting drivers to react?
So will the SOP for PDRM beacon go back to how it used to be – off when they’re just driving around and on when there’s an actual reason for it? Instead of on all the time like it has been since they got the Civic patrol cars and like to syiok sendiri.
