LRT3 Shah Alam Line – update on operations expected in January, testing and evaluation on trains continue

Prasarana says that an update on the LRT3 Shah Alam Line is expected to be announced next month. This follows on the December 10 announcement that the rail project would not commence operations this year due to the need to resolve system stability and software issues that were still detected during the testing and commissioning (T&C) phase.

Evaluation runs are still ongoing, according to Shah Alam Line operations head Mohd Ariffin Idris, with the rail project currently undergoing fault-free running (FFR) tests for each train, as Bernama reports.

“We have 22 trains for the Shah Alam Line. Each train must undergo this test and is monitored by the land public transport agency (APAD). Three trains have reached the required distance, but they need to be re-evaluated as APAD will reassess the criteria that have been implemented,” he said.

The rail line had originally been slated to start operations on September 30, but in August it was announced that the project had been delayed. In November, the government was said to be keeping to its target of December 31 for the launch of the line, but it was then announced in December that operations would not begin this year.

At that juncture, Prasarana CEO Amir Hamdan said that the official launch date for the Shah Alam Line would only be set after the testing and commissioning process has been completed. It was previously reported that the project is expected to be delayed until the second quarter of 2026.

Fire Loke, he has failed. Otherwise fire PM since he is his boss. Or better yet fire both of them!

Those tests on this LRT3 line are obviously done in the interest of public passenger safety. In May 2021, 213 passengers were injured when 2 trains collided on the Kelana Jaya LRT line between the KLCC & Kg. Baru stations. The transport minister then, the predecessor to the current minister, could have resigned but he didn’t, but you want the current transport minister & even the current PM to be fired when Prasarana has to continue testing all 22 trains on this LRT3 line until it meets APAD’s criteria. I suggest that you grow up.

You conveniently forget to include the details that collision happened due to track signaling equipment was failing and wasnt being replace in timely manner.

        Why so?

Because the predecessor to the predecessor to the current minister, who is also the current minister then, had massively cut Prasarana budget for maintenance over the 2 years he was in charge (2018-2020) which combined with Covid lockdown meant the predecessor to the current minister could not procure the spareparts needed in time. Is that his fault? Certainly not!

It was all caused by the predecessor to the predecessor to the current minister! If Prasarana had the budget to buy the spareparts needed, none of that would have happened! Ini semua salah the predecessor to the predecessor to the current minister!

There was an official media release dated 10th June 2021, from the then transport minister, which is entitled ’24 May 2021 Kelana Jaya LRT Collision: MOT Report Submitted To Cabinet With 23 Recommendations For Systemic Improvements’. This document outlines the incident’s investigation committee’s report which MOT had presented at a cabinet meeting. With regard to factors leading to the said incident, it was found that the communication between the hostler/driver of the empty train & the operations control centre which remotely ran the passenger occupied train, had been compromised because they had overlooked & missed critical procedures during the process of coordinating the movements of both trains on the same track. This media release does not mention anything about failing signaling equipment on the track, which could not be replaced due to the lack of spare parts, caused by major budget cuts at Prasarana. Therefore, it is actually you yourself who conveniently forgets to properly check the veracity of the obviously dubious story which you have submitted as your comment, unless you had made it up yourself. I’ve read how the others have responded to the erroneous nature of your comments, and it must be true that you see wrong place. I also suggest that you grow up!

Is it normal to be testing more after the standard testing phase? Doesn’t that imply the system is problematic, substandard, subpar, of poor quality, in similar with KLIA new Aerotrain which Loke was quick to trumpet as his achievement until it broke down over and over and over again?

What’s the status now still in testing phase after launching? So if its not Loke to be made responsible should it be the PMX then?

In Korea and In Japan their PM will resign due to such failures. PMX is not walking his high horse talk.

PM8 and his then transport minister didn’t resign after 213 passengers were injured in the May 2021 train collision on the Kelana Jaya LRT line, but you still insist that the current PM10 & the current transport minister should resign when Prasarana has to keep testing its trains on this LRT3 line until it satisfies APAD for safe operation. It’s no doubt that you need to grow up.

        Who owns Prasarana? KWSP.
        Who owns KWSP? MOF.
Who the boss of MOF? PMX.
Fire PMX then if you dont want to fire Loke! Choose who!

Although the federal government owns Prasarana via the MoF, the company has its own chairman, president, COO & CEO to run its operations. After the May 2021 Kelana Jaya line LRT accident had happened, somebody eventually got fired. It wasn’t PM8 & it wasn’t the previous transport minister. It was the then chairman, who is now the former MP of Pasir Salak.
