We’re at the ongoing paultan.org Auto Car Expo, and on display at the BYD booth is the Seal 6 EV in an exclusive Ivory Gold exterior paint finish. Announced for our market just last week, this hue is limited to 100 units, all of which are in the top-spec Premium variant.
The special colour is available at no extra cost, so you’ll be paying the Premium’s recommended retail price of RM115,800, or RM116,500 including on-the-road costs but without insurance. The Seal 6 EV was launched here back in September, initially with three colours: Arctic White, Harbour Grey and Misty Blue.
With the Premium, you’re getting 56.64-kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that provides up to 485 km of range following the NEDC standard (about 410 km WLTP). This powers a front electric motor rated at 218 PS (215 hp or 160 kW) and 330 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds.
The Seal 6 EV supports Type 2 AC charging at up to 7 kW (rounded up from 6.67 kW), while DC fast charging at the peak 100 kW will get the battery from a 30-80% state of charge in 23 minutes. There’s also a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system that can deliver an output of up to 3.7 kW to power devices and appliances.
In terms of standard equipment, the Premium comes with 18-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, an eight-way powered driver’s seat, six airbags, the usual array of passive safety systems, an ADAS suite (AEB, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning), a 360-degree monitor, LED headlamps, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, eight speakers, a wireless charging pad and automatic air-conditioning.
