Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has announced it will soon launch a new variant of the second-generation (X254) Mercedes-Benz GLC called the GLC200 4Matic. The entry-level offering will join the existing GLC350e 4Matic (a plug-in hybrid), which is the only variant of the GLC on sale currently.
For a brief recap, the X254 made its debut here with the GLC300 4Matic that initially arrived as a fully-imported (CBU) model in April 2023. Several months later in September the same year, the locally-assembled (CKD) version of this variant was introduced with a lower price tag. Fast forward a year to September 2024, MBM wheeled out the GLC350e 4Matic to replace the GLC300 4Matic. At present, the former is priced at RM398,888 on-the-road without insurance.
The new variant will very likely be priced below this figure, and those who are keen can register their interest on MBM’s official website. The company isn’t providing much in the way of details for now, but we can refer to the same variant sold in Australia for some idea of what to expect.
Under the bonnet, the GLC200 sports a 2.0 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine that serves up 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. As with the GLC300, the mill is augmented by a 48-volt mild hybrid system and paired with a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission as well as a 4Matic all-wheel drive system.
This setup enables a 0-100 km/h time of 7.8 seconds and claimed fuel consumption of 7.2 litres per 100 km. For comparison, the GLC300 needs 6.2 seconds to complete the century sprint and is rated at 7.7 litres per 100 km.
Judging by the teaser image MBM is using, our GLC200 4Matic will come with the AMG Line package, which includes things like a star-studded insert for its five-point grille as well as sportier-looking bumpers. We’ll have to wait for more information from MBM, so stay tuned.

When will Vw offer 1.4 tiguan with 4 motion?
Haha about time. GLC350e not selling well at all. Same goes for C350e. Just follow Australia and offer normal ICE models like C300/E300 and your sales will pick up.
merc and all other EU carmakers have a strategic directive to reduce carbon emissions from the cars they sell, thats ther reason why they are pushing hybrids in all markets even if hybrids arent popular.
this is called nailing your own toe. Why sell something customers knows is not good and doesn’t like? keep the emission topic in EU. Msia dont have such regulations yet, just sell what the consumer wants.
emission regulation applies regardless where the cars are sold, because EU companies have to report their sustaianbility to EU officials and regulatory bodies.
Then maybe BMW is china company, since they able to sell their non-hybrid X3 here. hahaha
