2026 Chery Omoda 4 previewed – Omoda 3 concept gets renamed; Omoda 4 Ultra gets hybrid powertrain

The Chery Omoda 4 has been shown at the 2025 Chery International User Summit that was held in the past week, and this crossover model has been renamed from the Omoda 3 that was unveiled in April this year.

According to publications present at the unveiling of the model in Wuhu, China, the Omoda 4 has been so-named to suit the carmaker’s revised naming strategy. “We make the car with our customers. [The] Omoda 4 [name] better meets their demands. We want our customers to come here to tell us what they like, [and] what they don’t like,” Omoda CEO Shawn Xu told Car.

Sighted with ‘225T’ badging, the Omoda 4 could get the same turbocharged 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is in the Omoda 5, which outputs 156 PS and 230 Nm.

Inside, the Omoda 4 gets the Starship Cockpit – as shown when it was known as the Omoda 3 – that brings a slim digital instrument cluster ahead of the driver, and a portrait-oriented central infotainment touchscreen.

The Omoda 4 was subsequently also joined by a sportier version, the Omoda 4 Ultra, that is differentiated not just in terms of styling, but also its powertrain.

On its exterior, the Omoda 4 Ultra is distiguished from the regular Omoda 4 by its more flamboyant styling courtesy of a larger front splitter, rear diffuser, carbon-fibre side mirrors and a large carbon-fibre rear wing, with the car here in a Electro Yellow paintjob. Wheels are 19-inch units in black, housing gold-painted brake calipers.

Under the skin, the Omoda 4 Ultra gets an internal combustion engine that is also of a turbocharged 1.5 litre, inline-four cylinder petrol configuration, and this is paired with an electric motor that outputs 204 PS and 310 Nm. Thus equipped, the Omoda 4 Ultra does the 0-100 km/h run in a claimed 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h.

According to Car, the Omoda 4 is expected to go on sale in the United Kingdom in the second half of 2026. With the UK being a right-hand-drive market, that may open the possibility for a Malaysian entry; would you like to see the Omoda 4 in our market?
