Proton eMas 5 amasses 1,607 bookings in 24 hours

Why aren’t we surprised – the Proton eMas 5, open for booking on Saturday at an estimated RM60k-80k, collected a total of 1,607 bookings just 24 hours later. That’s more than one every minute on average!

“We’re truly humbled by the overwhelming response from Malaysians for Proton eMas 5. Our mission has always been to make EV ownership accessible to all, and with the eMas 5, we’re turning that vision into reality. It’s truly Malaysia’s most affordable EV, built for the rakyat,” Pro-Net CEO Zhang Qiang said.

expecting so much and asking a lot for a car which only costs USD13k in china. if ur so capable why dont u build ur own car, or show me an EV from another company which is superior to this.

That kind of money can get you a decent car with zero downtime while enjoying RM1.99/l with at least 400km per tank. Easily from KV to Penang non-stop with zero worry.

The e-Mas 5 makes for a poor EV buying decision. With the low mileage and advancing battery tech, rushing to buy this e-Mas 5 because it is priced at RM60-80K makes no sense to me. Besides, the new road tax structure to be implemented in 2026 is still an unknown factor. Another point to take note of is the impending budget to be unveiled on Friday.

200+ km if perfect for most users as daily driver. How many km you travel a day. Only people with no proper jobs aka sales or MLM people will drive a lot daily. For most people this is more than enough. LFP battery some more. Drive upto 1 million KM also no problem with LFP battery

Lamp post charging points are all over central London and it’s not anything new. It’s one of those where you have to plug in your own cable. 3kW-7kW only but for overnight charging or quick top up it’s enough

Sometimes I wonder who are these early booking buyers.
Always when a new car is launch for P1 cars. The early booking is about the same figures.
Are they P1 own dealers and sales office bookings for their test drive vehicles.
Just weird looking at the early bookings figures for all the newly launch models.

Sir,in Bolehland, there is a breed of diehard hardcore P1 fanboys who will not buy any car except a Proton.
And the beautiful part,is they buy blind folded..without knowing the actual price. These are desperadoes who will spend an arm or leg without due diligence.
And after a few months,u can see the same car in a used car lot..cos the first buyer cant afford the instalments.

dont kena scam by the figures, the booking is only rm99, however the actual figure should be loan approved. booking is refundable for most cars anyways. so if want to raise figures just get ‘kawan-kawan’ to help book, maybe big kawan-kawan

hard sell, if they had spec-ed this higher to 400km range, itd prolly eat into the emas7 sales. im definitely sure they could have had a denser battery in there to get more than 400km. would an additional 10k MYR do with 400km in a 800v package ?

Unless government says by 2030 only EVs can be used in the city centre of KL, PJ, Penang and JB.. then people would que up to buy this car. Otherwise, NO.

The numbers are the usual thing – early adopters. Many EV dealers are struggling that most of the sales advisors had left and the dealers kept on looking for new sales people. Well, good lucj to them.

We should thank these buyers. They will lead the push for better public charging infrastructure.

Most of the time (99%) though you will be charging at home until DC charging is as ubiquitous as it is in China. Not going to happen anytime soon with RM1.99 I’m afraid
