If you’re a regular of the KL-Karak Highway, whether to Genting Highlands or the East Coast, take note. Concessionaire AFA Prime has announced a major lane closure on the highway to make way for East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) construction work.
UPDATE: AFA Prime has clarified that a ’24-hour traffic diversion’ is being implemented for both eastbound and westbound lanes between to facilitate the ECRL construction works. The diversion involves a realignment of traffic flow within the affected section, and all lanes in both directions remain fully open and operational – no need to exit the highway or seek alternative routes.
The closure is for all Kuantan-bound lanes heading east, from KM25.75 to KM26.39, and the period is from now till August 31. Throughout this period, a diversion will be activated on the stretch, which means that traffic will be affected in both directions.
This temporary 55-day bottleneck is sure to create a jam, so stay calm and factor in some buffer in your journey plan. Be alert and follow all the signs and crew in the work area. Drive safe.

This will cause a panic attack amongst all the motorist headed to Genting or any East coast states. Crazy all lane closure is guaranteed to cause a traffic jam of massive proportions on every weekends. How is this allowed?
Panic for all the speed hunters.
What kind of press release is this? ” all Kuantan-bound lanes heading east, from KM25.75 to KM26.39″ many non regular travelers are clueless about the area.
Is it before or after Karak toll? Bentong toll? before tunnel?
