Why doesn’t Tesla arrange insurance for me like other dealers?
Tesla operates a direct-to-consumer model in Malaysia and does not appoint a sales advisor or dealer to bundle insurance with your booking. You are free to choose any registered insurer as long as it is ready 7 days before your delivery date, which is where we come in — we’ll quote and cover on your behalf.
What is a VSO / proforma invoice and where do I get it?
It’s the document Tesla issues once you confirm your booking, listing your Tesla’s exact model, trim, on-the-road price and delivery details. You’ll find it in your Tesla account under your order, or via the email Tesla sends after booking, or from your Tesla delivery advisor. We need it to price your insurance accurately.
Which Tesla models are eligible?
All Model 3 and Model Y trims currently sold in Malaysia: Model 3 Standard, Premium RWD, Premium LR RWD and Performance AWD; Model Y Premium RWD, Premium LR RWD, Premium LR AWD and L Premium AWD.
Will my cover note be ready before collection?
Yes — that’s the whole point. As soon as you confirm your selected insurer and pay, we issue the cover note within 24 hours so you can register and collect your Tesla on schedule.
Are EV-specific plans available?
Yes, we will quote EV-specific plans from each insurer where available.
Can I apply NCD from another car for my new Tesla?
Yes, we will be able to advise you on how you can transfer NCD from another car to your new Tesla.
What payment methods are accepted?
Debit/credit card, online banking (FPX), e-wallets (Touch ‘n Go, Boost, GrabPay, ShopeePay, MAE), and instalments via Grab PayLater, Shopee SPayLater and Atome — subject to provider eligibility.
